WASHINGTON D.C, July 16, 2015 – The National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) has announced a strategic charitable partnership with Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) to provide a year-round series of sports business and empowerment opportunities with WWP Alumni and current and former NFL players.

The partnership with WWP will include opportunities for injured service members to gain insight, practical experience and professional development from experienced professionals within the sports industry and NFLPA business network. Additionally the NFLPA will make a financial contribution to WWP and explore fund-raising initiatives during special football events throughout the year.

“The NFLPA is proud to partner with Wounded Warrior Project and support our country’s injured service members as they transition into the business world," said NFLPA President Eric Winston. "We’re committed to providing our country’s veterans with an opportunity to engage with our players and business leaders, develop new skills and build upon their valuable military experience."

The NFLPA sought to partner with WWP in large part because of a shared goal to ensure both the physical and mental health of each organization’s members. Through business development, engagement and fundraising, the partnership is expected to create a meaningful level of support for this generation’s injured servicemen and women, and their families.

“Wounded Warrior Project is very excited to partner with the NFL Players Association," said Brea Kratzert Todd, WWP director, strategic partnerships. “This is a wonderful opportunity for WWP Alumni to interact with the NFLPA membership and staff in a variety of events and activities. We are grateful for the NFLPA’s support and look forward to working together to further our mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors.”

About the NFL Players Association

The National Football League Players Association is the union for professional football players in the National Football League. Established in 1956, the NFLPA has a long history of assuring proper recognition and representation of players’ interests. The NFLPA has shown that it will do whatever is necessary to assure that the rights of players are protected—including ceasing to be a union, if necessary, as it did in 1989. In 1993, the NFLPA again was officially recognized as the union representing the players, and negotiated a landmark Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL. The current CBA will govern the sport through 2020.
