After review and discussion with our jointly retained experts and others, the league and Players Association have finalized the 2016 drug and steroid policies, which have been posted and will be distributed as part of your League Policies for Players handbook. Among the key changes are:

POLICY ON PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING SUBSTANCES

  • The Prohibited List has been modified to include additional substances, including Growth Hormone Secretagogues and Growth Hormone Releasing Hormones and Peptides.

  • The collection procedures have been modified to clarify that any form of recording of the collection process is not permitted.

Players with questions may contact Todd Flanagan at the NFL Players Association.

POLICY AND PROGRAM ON SUBSTANCES OF ABUSE

  •  During the offseason, all specimens must be provided within four (4) hours of notification.

  •  "Synthetic Marijuana" – known by the names Spice, K2 and Blaze, among others – has been added to the standard testing panel.

  •  The collection procedures have been modified to clarify that any form of recording of the collection process is not permitted.

  •  There are additional procedures regarding international travel for Program participants.
