WASHINGTON D.C, Oct. 24, 2016 – The NFL Players Association (NFLPA), in conjunction with Fanatics, its exclusive e-commerce partner and the global leader for licensed sports merchandise, will once again celebrate NFL players with National Jersey Friday on November 4.
Whether it’s an NFL player from their favorite team or alma mater, a hometown hero or the star of their fantasy football team, the NFLPA is encouraging fans to wear their jerseys out to wherever they may be that Friday—work, school and everywhere in between. Now officially recognized on the National Day calendar, Jersey Friday will give fans the feeling of being part of a massive, nationwide pep rally for their favorite players.
“This is a great opportunity for fans – regardless of the team they root for – to show their support for the players and the sport they love,” said Steve Scebelo, vice president of licensing & business development at NFL Players Inc., the marketing and licensing arm of the NFLPA. “Football is a community-driven sport, and we are excited to work with Fanatics to give fans a chance to be a part of that by celebrating National Jersey Friday.”
Fans will be able to use the hashtag, #JerseyFriday across all social media channels to join in the national conversation and post pictures of themselves wearing their NFL player jerseys.
“It’s going to be so great to see fans of all teams sporting jerseys that Friday,” said Brandin Cooks, wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints said. “Normally I just like seeing fans with Saints jerseys on Sundays, but having a nationwide day that is focused a little more on the players they love is pretty cool. I can’t wait to check out the conversation on social and hope to see some of my own fans across the country.”
Last year, the inaugural NFLPA National Jersey Friday was a tremendous hit, with fans, players and family of players sharing pictures and video via social media. With pro football still the most popular sport in the country, the anticipation for the second annual day is even higher.
